Two Children Dead, 17 Injured in Minneapolis School Shooting

Minneapolis

The community of Minneapolis is in mourning after a horrific school shooting at Annunciation Catholic School claimed the lives of two children and left 17 others wounded. Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the first week of classes for many as a week of tragedy and heartbreak.

The victims included 14 children and three elderly parishioners. While officials have stated that all survivors are expected to recover, their injuries range from a minor graze wound to serious, life-threatening conditions.

As the city searches for answers, key details about the shooter have emerged. Police have identified the suspect as 23-year-old Robin Westman, who had legally purchased the three firearms used in the attack. Investigators have since seized documents and are reviewing a “disturbing” manifesto Westman posted on YouTube.

According to O’Hara, a clear motive remains elusive, though the manifesto contains “a variety of hate.” Authorities have confirmed that Westman had personal ties to the parish, having been a former student or member, with a family member who also worked there.

As survivors face a long road to recovery, the Minneapolis community is left to grapple with the pain and shock of the attack. Investigators, with the assistance of the FBI, are working tirelessly to piece together a motive and provide clarity for a city left reeling from a senseless act of violence.
