When Jesus speaks in parables and vivid imagery about the end time, he doesn’t want us to get frightened or anxious; he only expects us to be vigilant and prayerful. Too many horrible things are happening in the world today, making one suspect that they maybe a concerted agenda to remove the last vestiges of God from societal consciousness.
We hear of countries legalizing gay marriage and abortion, various form of immorality have now become fashionable. People keep doing unimaginable things, even at times, diabolical things just to make money.
Where is our conscience?
In this confusion we might be tempted to get carried away by the crowd and turn our back on God, or become completely forgetful of him.
God reminds us not to get carried away by the things of the world but to remain vigilant, prayerful and alert for He will come at a time that we do not expect.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the world and suffer the loss of his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matthew 16:26
