President Tinubu has announced the death of his predecessor President Buhari Mohammadu who died in London at 4:30pm, following an undisclosed prolonged illness.
The President has communicated with the wife of his predecessor, Aisha Buhari and sent his condolences.
He has also ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany the body of Gen. Mohammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
Former President Mohammadu was once the head of state between January 1984 and August 1985.
He also served two terms as the President of Nigeria from 2015 – 2023.
President Tinubu has ordered flags at half staff as a mark of respect for the deceased leader.
