AON Bans Unruly Ibom Air Passenger for Life

AON

The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have taken a firm stance against unruly passenger behavior, issuing a lifetime “No Fly” ban to Comfort Emmanson.

The decision comes after a violent incident on an Ibom Air flight where Emmanson allegedly assaulted crew members.

In a public statement, AON detailed the events on Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos. Emmanson reportedly refused to follow safety instructions about mobile phone usage, which escalated into a physical attack on the crew. The situation became so severe that she attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon, placing the lives of everyone on board and the safety of the aircraft at risk.

AON praised Ibom Air for their swift and professional handling of the event, and their decision to ban Emmanson is a clear warning to others. “This behaviour is unacceptable,” the statement read, adding that the ban applies to all AON member airlines, both domestic and international.

The association also used the opportunity to call out other high-profile incidents, including those involving Nigerian musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal and Senator Adams Oshiomhole. The AON also urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to immediately review and strengthen security procedures at all airports, highlighting vulnerabilities exposed during the incident.

AON concluded by reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, stating that any future incidents will be met with similar consequences.
