Singer Sean Kingston, best known for his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for a $1 million wire fraud scheme.
On August 15, Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service following his sentencing in Southern Florida.
His mother, Janice Turner, who was also involved in the case, received a five-year prison sentence three weeks earlier. Turner’s legal team has filed an appeal.
A jury found both Kingston, 35, and Turner, 62, guilty on all counts in March after a five-day trial. They were convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. The two still face separate state charges in Florida.
Kingston rose to fame in the late 2000s with hits like “Beautiful Girls” and “Eenie Meenie,” a collaboration with Justin Bieber.
