Nigeria’s Federal Government has expressed profound concern regarding the Israeli airstrike that took place in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday. The strike, which reportedly targeted senior Hamas officials, has been widely criticized for its potential to destabilize the region.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, highlighted that such actions threaten regional stability and compromise ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The government underscored the importance of respecting national sovereignty and adhering to international law, especially concerning cross-border military actions.
The statement also acknowledged Qatar’s vital role in mediating dialogue in the Middle East, urging all sides to de-escalate tensions and recommit to peaceful negotiations. Nigeria extended its sympathies to all those affected by the incident and reiterated its readiness to collaborate with the international community to promote peace, security, and the rule of law.
