Jota, who signed a five year contract with extension with Liverpool in 2022 was reportedly earning €140,000 per week.
The club will pay Jota’s family close to €14.5 million which is the exact amount owed till the end of the contract.
The 28 year old Liverpool and Portugal star, Diogo Jota sadly passed away in a ghastly motor accident with his brother Andrè Silva on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025.
The news of his death was a shock to everyone especially the soccer world and fans all over the world.
It was said that Jota underwent surgery and was advised not to fly and so was driving from Porto to Santander to catch a ferry to England for pre-season training.
According to the country’s Guardia Civil, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. local time on the A-52 road in Zamora, northwestern Spain, and was caused by a “burst tire while overtaking.”
The funeral is set to take place today at the church by 10:00am local time.
In the hours since Diogo Jota and his brother, Andrè Silva were killed in a car accident, tributes from his team, soccer family and fans account the world have poured in.
