A passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo is set to face charges after an incident on Sunday, August 10, 2025, where she assaulted a flight attendant and multiple airport security officers.
The incident began on flight QI 513 when a passenger, identified as Comfort Emmanson, repeatedly refused to turn off her mobile phone before landing, despite multiple requests from the cabin crew. Upon arrival at the terminal, the crew delayed her disembarkation to await airport security.
During this time, Ms. Emmanson assaulted a crew member, Juliana Edward.
When approached by BASL and FAAN AVSEC officers, Ms. Emmanson became increasingly hostile. She refused to board the designated bus for interrogation and proceeded to slap two officers, CII Ayoola and FAAN AVSEC officer Ajorin.
After being restrained and placed on the bus by BASL AVSEC officer Faith, the passenger’s aggression continued. Inside the vehicle, she attacked CII Obadare, holding him by the neck and repeatedly slapping him. To prevent further chaos, she was immediately transported to Tango City.
The assaulted flight attendant, who was visibly distressed, did not accompany the officers. However, Ibom Air’s Duty Manager, Mr. Johnson K.A., went to Tango City to assist with the ongoing investigation.
In addition to the earlier assaults, Ms. Emmanson also attacked BASL AVSEC officers Faith and Ayooluwa. She will be charged to court once the interrogations are complete.
