We Will Soon Expose Those Financing Terrorism in Nigeria – Chief of Defense Staff

General Christopher Musa

General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, has stated that the Nigerian government is actively working to identify and prosecute individuals and groups financing terrorism within the country.

Speaking on a television show, Musa noted that the process is complex due to legal issues and international connections, as some funds originate from outside Nigeria. However, he confirmed that authorities “know them” and are tracking local financiers who use methods like providing motorcycles to recruits and collecting daily cash deposits.

Musa highlighted the crucial role of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) in tracing these financial links and confirmed that arrests have already been made. He stressed that key government officials, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and the National Security Adviser, are working together to address the issue.

The Defense Chief also mentioned that security agencies, including the State Security Services and the National Intelligence Agency, are investigating politicians suspected of sponsoring insecurity for personal gain. He concluded by emphasizing the collaborative nature of criminal networks, stating, “Bandits and terrorists work together because they share the same goal—making money and inflicting suffering on communities.”
