APC Chieftain: North Won’t Vote for Peter Obi Due to Alcohol Importation

Alwan Hassan

Alwan Hassan, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the North will not support Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Hassan cited Obi’s alleged involvement in alcohol importation as a core reason, arguing it conflicts with the region’s cultural and religious values.

“Peter Obi… was celebrating a brewery in Anambra State and being the biggest importer of alcohol,” Hassan said. “You want the North to vote for him? We will vote for a president that will import alcohol in the North?”

Hassan, an APC stalwart, questioned the logic of fielding a candidate whose business ventures, in his view, clash with the predominantly Muslim culture of the region.

He also dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a “coalition of angry people” driven by individual ambition. The coalition, which includes figures like Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi, aims to challenge the APC in 2027.

Hassan, however, believes their efforts are “futile,” predicting that President Tinubu will be re-elected. “With the facts on the ground, President Tinubu will be re-elected in sha Allah,” he concluded.
