A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has granted a request for a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Liam Aloba, the son of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad. The order was made on Tuesday after an application was filed by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga, mandated that two separate DNA tests be conducted: one at an accredited hospital in Nigeria and another overseas. The court also ruled that both parties or their representatives must be present during the sample collection.
According to Joseph Aloba, the test is essential to resolve questions about the child’s paternity, which affects matters of welfare and maintenance. He also requested that tissue or hair samples be taken from the late singer’s remains at the Military Hospital in Yaba for the test.
Both legal teams agreed to the request, with no objection from the counsel for Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for November 11, 2025.
