Tinubu: Nigeria’s Economy is Strong, Non-Oil Revenue Soaring

President Bola Tinubu

Nigeria has hit its annual revenue target ahead of schedule, with a major boost from the non-oil sector, President Bola Tinubu announced on Tuesday. During a meeting with The Buhari Organization (TBO), the President declared that the government is no longer borrowing from local banks, signaling a stabilized economy.

“As I stand before you, I can boldly say Nigeria is no longer borrowing a dime from local banks. We have met our revenue target for the year, and we achieved that in August,” he stated.

Tinubu urged his supporters to remain focused on his administration’s progress in job creation and economic growth, encouraging them not to be intimidated before the 2027 elections. He also acknowledged the loyalty of former Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) members who didn’t receive political appointments, assuring them that their patience would be rewarded with consideration for ambassadorial roles.

The President also highlighted a new nationwide agricultural mechanization program, which will establish a center in each region to boost food production and train young people.

Demonstrating confidence in Nigeria’s economic position, Tinubu dismissed concerns about external factors, including the actions of President Donald Trump. He emphasized that the country’s growing non-oil revenue makes its economy more resilient to outside pressures.
